PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that there has been introduced before the Board of Trustees of the Village of Walden, New York, on July 7, 2026, a local law titled “Buildings, Unsafe” which local law would amend the definitions of Building Inspector and Unsafe Building or Structure; to allow for any owner, occupant or person in custody of real property who allows or permits a building to continue as a dangerous building to be guilty of a violation; to allow for seven days notice to the owner of a building in advance of a due process hearing; to allow for the posting of no trespassing signs; to allow for the Village’s contractors, consultants, and/or employees to enter the property to conduct repair work after a due process hearing and for the expenses incurred by the Village to be assessed on the land.

A complete copy of the Introductory Local Law is available for inspection at the Clerk’s office.

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to Section 20 of the Municipal Home Rule Law, the Board of Trustees of the Village of Walden, New York, will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local Law on September 1, 2026, at 6:30 P.M. or soon thereafter, at the Village Hall, 1 Municipal Square, Walden, New York 12586, at which time all persons interested therein shall be heard.
